Privacy policy
This policy explains what data the Novgov game and the novgov.com website use, why, for how long, and how to exercise your rights. Novgov has no ads, no analytics and no in-app purchases, and your data is never sold.
1. Data controller
Fathi Said Hassen (France), publisher of Novgov. Contact: contact@novgov.com
2. Solo mode
Solo mode needs no account and no connection to our servers: we receive no data about you when you play Solo. To display the map, the app does contact OpenStreetMap's map servers (see § 6).
3. Data we process online
| Data | Why | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| Account: email address, password (stored only as an irreversible hash), username | Create and secure your account, let you play online | Performance of the contract (terms of use) |
| Game: owned districts, Action Points, troops and barracks, building levels, sieges, battle history, ranking, reports | Run the game | Performance of the contract |
| Approximate location: your HQ district (an area of about 200 m) and the districts you conquer | Place your HQ and build the conquest map around you | Your consent (location permission) and performance of the contract |
| Technical data: IP address, connection date and time | Security, abuse prevention (rate limiting), troubleshooting | Legitimate interest |
4. Your location
- The first time you open Conquest mode, the app asks for location permission and reads your position once, on your phone.
- That position is immediately converted into a district of about 200 m. Your exact coordinates are neither sent to our servers nor stored, and your location is never tracked afterwards.
- The districts you own appear on other players' maps, with your username. They therefore give a rough idea of the area where you started playing: choose a username that does not identify you.
- You can refuse location permission: Solo mode remains available.
5. What other players see
Your username, your ranking, the districts you own and the sieges between you. Never your email address.
6. Recipients and service providers
- OVHcloud (OVH SAS, France) hosts our servers in its Gravelines data centre, in France. Your data stays in the European Union.
- OpenStreetMap: to display maps and buildings, the app downloads map data directly from OpenStreetMap servers (map tiles and Overpass services, in France and Germany). These servers receive your IP address and the map area requested, as with any website. See the OpenStreetMap Foundation privacy policy.
- Brevo (France) sends the service emails: address confirmation when you sign up and "forgot password" links. It only receives your email address for that purpose.
No data is sold, rented or shared with advertisers.
7. Retention
- Account and game: as long as your account exists. After a deletion request, everything is erased within 30 days (see delete my account).
- Database security backups: deleted automatically after 60 days at most.
- Technical data (connection logs): 12 months at most.
8. On your phone
The app keeps your login session on your phone so you do not have to sign in again. Signing out in the game erases it. The novgov.com website sets no cookies.
9. Security
Traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted (TLS). Passwords are never stored in plain text. Server access is restricted to the publisher.
10. Minimum age
Novgov is intended for people aged 13 and over. If you believe a younger child has given us data, write to us and we will delete the account.
11. Your rights
Under the GDPR, you can access, correct and erase your data, get a copy of it (portability), object to or restrict some processing, and withdraw your consent at any time. Write to contact@novgov.com from your account's email address: we answer within one month. You can also lodge a complaint with the French data protection authority, the CNIL (cnil.fr), or your local authority.
12. Changes
If this policy changes significantly, we will tell you in the game. The update date is shown at the top of this page.
